Overview

Globally, the length of power transmission lines is more than 7 million kilometers, a number that will increase further due to the growing demand for power.

As a result, reliability of power supply is a top priority and, therefore, it is imperative to keep the transmission and distribution infrastructure in top condition and minimize power outages.

Energy companies regularly assess the condition of power grids using thermal sensors mounted on helicopters, but although they can be used effectively, such inspections are complex, dangerous and expensive.

For these reasons, large energy companies are investing in alternative but effective solutions, such as drones.

How drones can be used

logonetfmilanobianco

The use of UAS for power grids makes it possible to complete detailed inspections of large areas by capturing thousands of data with RGB and thermal images. The Operations & Maintenance facility will have accurate information on hot-spots, flashovers, damaged components, and more, useful for resolving malfunctions in a timely manner.

With these systems, hard-to-reach infrastructures can be accessed, providing data for maintenance of assets distributed over large areas, in relatively less time and cost than traditional methods, while improving human safety conditions.

We bring our experience and capabilities in flight missions and Big Data Anaytics to bear to provide highly accurate inspection results of power transmission, distribution and substation lines.

Our UAS systems are, equipped with state-of-the-art RGB, thermal radiometric, and LiDAR sensors, are designed to withstand electromagnetic interference from power grids and provide accurate data for damage and failure analysis invisible to the naked eye, making networks more efficient and saving inspection time and costs, while exponentially improving worker safety.

The results obtained will be reported on a report in prepared by our experts, containing a summary of the faults found. In addition, in our cloud platform it will be possible to visualize the results of aerial inspections, with an exportable, georeferenced and interactive dataset.
